The territory
Wine is an expression of the terroir, which determines its quality and character.
The Summonte area lies at over 700 meters above sea level, and thanks to its morphology, chestnut, olive, and hazelnut trees are widespread in this area, along with other crops such as flax and
especially mulberry.
It was precisely the high altitude, with its resulting cold temperatures, that discouraged the idea of planting vines. Furthermore, the soil is highly clayey, with rocks occasionally emerging from the surface.
This condition, however, favors wide temperature variations between day and night and considerable ventilation.
the terroir that makes the difference
It is precisely thanks to this unique soil and climate that the grapes grown in this area are characterized by a high concentration of aromatic substances and excellent acidity, resulting in significant aromatic potential and remarkable longevity.
Good ventilation is particularly beneficial for cultivation, as the dry environment prevents the development of pathogenic fungi.
The soil composition also plays a role: the clayey nature favors the storage capacity and high water retention. Therefore, the vines cope very well even during periods of low rainfall.
This is not just the land where we work, but a sacred place; it is here that our families live and where we raise our children, with full respect for nature.
