Greco di Tufo

Controlled and guaranteed designation of origin

The Greco, selected by Guido Marsella, comes from Irpinia vineyards. Its first harvest was in 2007 and follows the company’s traditional winemaking process.
Pressing of the grapes, storage in wine vats, and bottling. The only element in contact with the wine during these stages is AISI 316 stainless steel.

Grapes: 100% Greco (selected by GUIDO MARSELLA)
Soil: Clayey-tuffaceous
Altitude: 500 meters above sea level
Vineyard age: 25/30 years
Plant density: 3,400 vines/ha
Training system: Guyot
Harvest period: Late October
Yield per hectare: 7.5 quintals

All Guido Marsella wines are released for sale at least 18 months after the harvest, as the principle is to leave the must in the wine vats to mature naturally and fully. This unforced approach will allow the wines, if stored at a constant temperature in a healthy environment and away from light, to last over 10 years after bottling.

Greco Di Tufo DOCG is released for sale approximately
two years after the harvest.
The vineyards are located in Montefusco, a municipality with a strong viticultural vocation, in a valley with magnificent exposure.
The first harvest dates back to 2005; 10 years after its founding, the company had already achieved international recognition for its Fiano, but this time it did not encounter the same difficulties associated with releasing a white wine approximately two years after the harvest.

For this wine, as for Fiano, the 2020 changes to the production regulations included the designation RISERVA, officially enshrining Guido’s original vision.
While the mineral component in Fiano was primarily provided by limestone, in the case of Greco, it is undoubtedly the presence of sulfur in the soil that determines its characteristics.
A tantalizing savoriness is found on the palate, which, at the end of one sip, immediately calls for the next, resulting in a wine of unmistakable elegance.
