The Falanghina, selected by Guido Marsella, comes from the finest vineyards in the Benevento area. Its first harvest was in 2007 and follows the company’s traditional winemaking process.
Pressing of the grapes, storage in wine vats, and bottling. The only element in contact with the wine during these stages is AISI 316 stainless steel.
Grapes: 100% Falanghina (selected by GUIDO MARSELLA)
Soil: Clayey-calcareous
Altitude: 350 meters above sea level
Vineyard age: 20 years
Plant density: 3,500 vines/ha
Training system: Guyot
Harvest period: Late September
Yield per hectare: 10,000 kg
All Guido Marsella wines are released for sale at least 18 months after the harvest, as the principle is to leave the must in the wine vats to mature naturally and fully. This unforced approach will allow the wines, if stored at a constant temperature in a healthy environment and away from light, to last over 10 years after bottling.
In keeping with the winery’s philosophy, Falanghina also follows the principle of being released late after the harvest.
While this type of wine has often been overlooked over the years, Guido decided to reinvent Falanghina as well, starting by taking over vineyards in the Benevento area, specifically in the municipality of Guardia Sanframondi, where this wine is said to have originated.
The vineyards extend across a hillside at approximately 350 meters, and the grapes are harvested strictly by hand. Once brought to the cellar, they are carefully processed in stainless steel
vats and entirely single-varietal.
All these factors contribute to the production of a floral, fruity, and fragrant wine that is highly versatile.
Although it is traditionally paired with aperitifs and appetizers, thanks to its strong acidity and alcohol content, it is a wine that pairs well with boldly flavored dishes.
